A Universe of Colour and Light
Verner Panton at the Circus Building
In 1984, world-renowned Danish designer and architect Verner Panton left his distinctive mark on Cirkusbygningen when he created a unique colour and lighting concept for the foyer areas © Verner Panton Design AG.
The 2025 Restoration
In close collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG and Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects, the Circus Building’s vestibule, stairways, and foyer areas have been restored to Verner Panton’s original universe of colour and light.
As Christian Sunn, CEO of Wallmans at the Circus Building, puts it:
“This is not just a renovation – it’s the recreation of a colourful legacy that still feels ultra-modern. We are proud to reopen with a design that both honours history and looks to the future – and that our guests will truly feel and experience.”
A Living Design Icon
“The completed result stands as one of the few remaining Verner Panton interior projects that can still be experienced in real life.”
– Carin Panton von Halem, Managing Director, Verner Panton Design AG
With the restoration, Panton’s vision is preserved for new generations – not merely as a piece of design history found in books and museums, but as a living space in the heart of Copenhagen.
